Section 01

This hormone, which is secreted by the pituitary gland, is present in both men and women.

If a woman complains of specific symptoms such as menstrual irregularity, milk discharge from the breast, delayed pregnancy and conception, or severe headache, then testing the prolactin hormone is important.

In cases where elevated prolactin requires treatment, the decision to treat and the dose used are determined by the treating doctor.

A slight increase in the hormone level without symptoms does not require treatment.

A significant increase in the hormone level, along with symptoms such as headache, vomiting, and limited vision, may indicate brain tumors that require consultation with an endocrinologist and sometimes surgery.
